Sciences fears talking monkeys

Just read this article about how current science has been worrying about testing on monkeys to the point of them being able to talk and essentially feel as if they were human. I don't know about those scientists but that would actually be a bad ass result. I think these scientists should follow through and hope for the monkeys to talk. We are animals just as much as a monkey and if we can alter their code to advance them then why not? Check out the article here: http://english.pravda.ru/society/anomal/26-07-2011/118592-medical_research_will_create_talking_monkeys-0/

  1. I think that the experiments should continue, but as soon as the monkeys can demonstrate human levels of intelligence and awareness, then they must be treated as a human would.

  2. hey, monkeys can already be taught to communicate via sign language so I'd say this would be an advancement, in terms of communication. A true telling display of our fellow animal's intelligence.

  3. I think they shouldn't be experimented on at all, if they won't experiment on people (and it is illegal to experiment on anyone but yourself) then they shouldn't do it on animals, doesn't matter if they show the same level of awareness. Still, talking monkeys is going to lead to Planet Of The Apes, so that's a bad thing.

  4. Someday computers will experiment with human beings, and we are not going to like it.

  5. @Rich the way things are going, someday monkeys will experiment with human beings, and computers are not going to like it.

  7. Wow, that would be world changing. Another advanced species as us that can communicate with humans.

  8. i think its just a bit weird to be honest. But science must be allowed to advance and if this is the way it's going then i can't wait to see the results

  9. ive got two things in response to this.

1: isnt that the whole plot of that "rise of the planet of the apes" movie?

2: we, as a species, have been given the incredible gift of sentience. We are practically obligated to share our higher knowledge with lesser organisms. Who knows what we could learn from the viewpoint of an entirely different species?

  10. Planet of the Apes man, but yeah it'd be good I think, I want a talking monkey as a best friend. As long as we empathise with them and treat them as you would another human, it should go well with no "You Maniacs! You blew it up! Ah, damn you! God damn you all to hell!"

Most sci-fi shows are enjoyable because their technology is plausible, but still too far advanced from our own. A lot of things have come from shows and movies: Tablets, Computers, Phones, Railgun (YEAH!), and others i'm too lazy to re-search and mention.

  11. testing on monkeys is pointless because they are not humans, insted they could use rats or something to test bad side effects...
